I’m Hare and I make cute things. I’m a graphic designer by day and super craft enthusiast every other minute available. All of my life I’ve wanted to learn as many things as possible, especially those things I can do with my own two hands.
I grew up around incredibly talented women, all of whom had some craft or art of their own, but also pushed their professional lives as well. My Grandmother is an amazing seamstress and I’ve always been in awe of her talent and knowledge. When I bought my first sewing machine (an early 70s Singer Touch and Sew 620), we sat on the living room floor for hours while she told me about all the bits and pieces and how I could use them. She and my Aunt taught me how to crochet when I was younger, and oh what an adventure that’s been. My Mother made half of our Christmas ornaments, honestly, with equal parts craft supplies and frustration, but they were gorgeous none the less, and still hang on her tree today. She taught me to paint and tried to teach me to draw, to almost no avail (lol).
I picked up photography in early high school, then graphic design, got my degree and let crafts fall a little to the wayside. And that, brings us to now. Winters in Canada mean lots of sitting inside. Add in a Goddaughter on the way, and poof! you have a beautiful baby blanket in the works. Fast forward a few years, with the magic of the internet and a pinterest obsession, and you have a Hare up to her eyeballs in yarn, ribbon, and crochet hooks.
Now, I combine my graphic design knowledge, photography skills, handmade goodness into one full fledged A Hare Affair brand. Stream it on Twitch and Voila! New friends, a virtual craft circle around the globe, and amazing people to share with and learn from.
Let’s make awesome things together!
