I’ve been looking for my favorite hook for a week. It’s a @prym.consumer hook that I picked up in Montreal 5 years ago. Perfectly smooth and nothing sold here in the US comes close, not even my furls. Today, I tore apart the couch, the craft room and dug through every box in storage - most of which I knew there was no way it was in. At first, I wanted it because I can’t replace it and it works beautifully, but then it hit me that every baby blanket I’ve made was with this hook. The projects that launched A Hare Affair - every stitch with care and intent. All of my graphgans, my own designs, were made with it. I paid a dollar for it; this simple little tool. And today I literally cried because I realized that it means so much more to me. It has so many more projects to make in my hands. Turns out, it was hiding in Kayla’s car, dropped to the floorboards while working on a very sentimental blanket on Christmas eve. A blanket I now know I cannot finish without it. I could have saved myself a lot of fussing had I checked her car earlier this week, but instead, tonight I’ll appreciate realizing how much more it means to me than I thought. The hook I started crocheting with is long gone. Question #2 I get asked a lot “How do you find time for it all?” I like to say that I make time, but honestly, I work too much. Today I worked my normal job, ate dinner and ran some errands, streamed on twitch and then came upstairs to sit with Smart and ... dun dun dun...work on pdf patterns. For what its worth, I do enjoy working a lot. Lol

Tonight’s relaxation includes working on my family blanket and listening SmartASCII play league in the background.

Inspired by all the pretty girly things at #ohayocon. Had to do a pastel manicure to match.

One of the most common questions I’m asked is “how long did that take you?” It’s difficult to answer for a few reasons, mostly because I don’t always time every part of something, but also because I know that, many times, the question really is “how long would I have to spend making that?” And “is it worth the price she’s asking?” These pieces took me 4 hours today to complete. I’m a pretty fast crocheter. I’ve been crocheting almost daily for 5 years and I learned 20 years ago. Like any other skill, a lot of what you’re paying for aren’t the hours it took to make that item, but the ones it took to learn and perfect the skill. Going forward, I want to keep better track of how long things take.
